HUGE STEAL BY EDUFUL SEALS HAWKS ROAD VICTORY

ANCASTER, ON: The Humber Hawks men's basketball team have run their current unbeaten streak to 10 games, by way of their 82-77 road victory over Redeemer University of Friday night. Humber, the number three ranked team in the country, now see their season record improve to 13-3.

In a game where the Hawks seemed in control from the second quarter on, Humber was unable to run away from the pesky hometown Royals. The Hawks were down 2 after the first quarter, but then took over the game by winning the next two quarters by a total of 15 points.

Redeemer came back from double digits down on a few occasions late, but were unable to get even at any point. They took the fourth quarter by a score of 27-20, and were just 3 down, with the ball, with 40 seconds to go.

It is at this point when Gibson Eduful may have furthured his credentials for post season awards, in what may be  the turning point of the game. As the Royals tried to set up  for a game tying three, he sprung out at the top of the defensive key, stole  the ball and was fouled.

The Hawks put the ball in play, forcing the home team to foul Ancil Martin. Martin, as he has done all year, stepped up and sank both free throws to put the game away.

Humber placed 5 players in double figures, led by CJ Bennett and his mark of 14 points. Brayden Gohn (13), Gibson Eduful (12), Baljyot Judge (10) and Ancil Martin (10) joined in on the scoring.

The Hawks will entertain the Sheridan Bruins on Thursday night at the Humber Athletic Centre. Tip is set for 8:00 pm.
