HAWKS LOOK TO PULL OFF ANOTHER UPSET

HAWKS LOOK TO PULL OFF ANOTHER UPSET

ETOBICOKE, ON: Coming off their best win of the season, the Humber College men's basketball program will be hosting the scorching hot Niagara Knights on Wednesday, November 25.  Last time out, the Hawks picked up a thrilling 57-56 win over the CCAA's second ranked Sheridan Bruins.

Two of the province's best scorer's will be featured in this game as Humber's Gibson Eduful is currently ranked tenth in the OCAA averaging 17 points-per-game, while Niagara's Marako Lundy ranks seventh averaging 19.2.

After upsetting the second ranked team in the country last week, the Hawks will be looking to do the same to the tenth ranked Niagara Knights.  The Knights, sitting at 5-1 and in third place in the west division, began the season winning four straight games.  Niagara's only loss was in overtime to the Sheridan Bruins.

Over the years, Humber basketball has been quite dominant against Niagara.  Dating back to 1978, the Hawks own a 32-9 overall record against the Knights, including an impressive 18-2 record when playing at home.  In their last matchup at the Humber Athletic Centre, the Hawks cruised to a 79-51 win, getting 17 points from Scarborough native Ancil Martin.  The Hawks smothering defence held Marako Lundy to 11 points on 2-12 shooting.  As a team, Humber held Niagara to 25.9 percent from the floor.

The Hawks used gritty defence and stellar guard play to come away with the win against Sheridan.  Playing in his hometown of Brampton, second-year guard Curwin Elvis had a game-high 14 points in the win for Humber.
