SAINTS MARCH INTO THE NEST TO PLAY No.5 HAWKS

ETOBICOKE, On: The St. Clair Saints (5-6, 6th West) will be visiting the Humber Athletic Centre trying to keep their playoff hopes alive.  Unfortunately, the Saints will have to get through the hottest team in the province, the no.5 Humber Hawks (10-3, 2nd West).

The Hawks have won seven straight games, including three over nationally ranked programs and are averaging 83 points-per-game over that span.  When the 2015 calendar year ended, the Hawks could not be found in the CCAA rankings.  Since, the defending national champions have jumped to the fifth spot and are continuing to climb.

On paper, these two programs matchup well, with St. Clair getting the slight edge in scoring and shooting.  However, the Hawks own the best defence in the West, holding opponents to a stingy 65.8 points-per-game.  The Saints are allowing 82.5 ppg and if they continue to play poor defence, will have a tough time running with the Hawks.

Earlier this season these teams competed in Windsor, with the Saints narrowly escaping in overtime 90-87.  Second-year centre Vule Grujic (Serbia) recorded a season-high in the loss, finishing with 24 points.  Rookie guard Trevon Mollison finished with a game-high 27 points in the win for St. Clair.

Both teams feature big men averaging near double-doubles and will be an interesting matchup to keep an eye on.  Tyrone Dickson (Scarborough), the reigning West Division Defensive Player of the Year, has been a force for the Hawks since rejoining the team.  The Saints feature former OUA Rookie of the Year Patrick Donnelly, who is currently fourth in the league averaging 9.3 rebounds-per-game.

Currently in second place in the ultra-competitive OCAA west division, Humber sits only 0.5 game behind no. 7 Mohawk Mountaineers (10-2, 1st West).  The Mountaineers will be playing a weekend double-header with Cambrian College (1-10, 9th West) and are all but guaranteed locking up four more points.  The schedule then becomes more difficult for Mohawk, with three straight road games and Humber will need to extend their win streak to double-digits if they expect to win the division crown again this season.

All Hawks home games are free to the public and also streamed live online.  If you are unable to attend Saturday's game against St. Clair, scroll down to the bottom of the home page and click on the "WATCH NOW" link or click on the link below:
