LATE RUN POWERS HAWKS TO COME FROM BEHIND ROAD WIN

LONDON, Ont. – The Humber Hawks men's basketball team came from a nine point deficit with two minutes to go to defeat the Fanshawe Falcons by a score of 67-66 at the Glenn Johnston Athletic Centre on Saturday afternoon.

The game was close from the start, as Fanshawe and Humber traded baskets in the first quarter. The Falcons had a 15-14 lead after the first frame.

The second quarter began with Fanshawe capitalizing on a pair of Humber turnovers to go up 20-15. The Hawks then went on a run, forcing the Falcons to call a timeout. The Falcons responded with a run of their own, however still trailed by three going into the locker room, 36-33.

The third quarter was all Fanshawe, and the host Falcons had a 54-50 advantage going into the final quarter.

Fanshawe's momentum carried over into the fourth and they extended their lead to eight, forcing Humber to call a timeout. The Hawks then stepped it up and went on a 9-0 run to go up by one point. In the final two minutes of the game, the teams traded baskets and with 1.8 seconds remaining, Humber had a single point lead. The Hawks held Fanshawe scoreless on their final opportunity and won 67-66.

On Friday, Nov. 13, the Hawks will travel to Hamilton, to face the Mohawk Mountaineers in a rematch of the 2015 OCAA title game. The tip is set for 8 p.m.
