HAWKS EDUFUL NAMED OCAA PLAYER OF THE WEEK

HAWKS EDUFUL NAMED OCAA PLAYER OF THE WEEK

TORONTO, ON: Fourth-year point guard Gibson Eduful (Brampton) ended the first-half of the regular season with his ninth-straight game scoring in double digits. Eduful scored a season-low (but team-high) 14 points in a narrow 57-56 win at Sheridan. He then contributed a season-best 29 points in a 85-76 win over Niagara. Eduful capped off the fall semester with 16 points in addition to a dozen assists in an 89-71 victory over Redeemer.

His current mark of 18.2 points per game places him tenth in the league scoring race. The significance of Eduful's average is that he is the first men's player since the 2001/02 season to be averaging above 16 points a game. Humber has been known for its ability to share the ball, and has consisttently seen multiple players every season in the 10 to 14 point per game range, but the 15 point mark has seemed to be the ceiling.

Humber, the defending CCAA National Champions, have rebounded from a slow start, and even undermanned, has had a successful run of winning six of their last seven games. Their record sits at 6-3 at the break. "Gibby" as he is known, will have a number of teammates back in the second half, and this should bode well as the Hawks look to defend.
