HAWKS VICTORIOUS OVER SAULT IN FIRST HOME GAME OF THE SEASON

ETOBICOKE, ON: The Humber Hawks men's basketball team have emerged victorious tonight against Sault college winning their first game of the season 71-53.

 

Sault managed to gain an early lead in the first quarter scoring a total of 18 points to start the game. The Hawks followed close at their heels scoring 16 points by the end of the first quarter. The Hawks did not let this deter them, the team quickly took the lead again in the second quarter scoring a total of 11 points. Humber's defence was strong with the Cougars only managing a single basket by the end of the second, bringing the total score to 27-20 for the Hawks.

 

The second half marked the beginning of the end for Sault College. In the third quarter Humber scored 23 points. Sault fought back hard managing to score 14 bringing the score to 50-34 for Humber. The final quarter saw the Hawks score yet another 21 points. Sault fought hard scoring 19 for themselves bringing the final score of the game to 71-53 for Humber.

 

The player of the game was Humber's Kenny Ejim. He single-handedly scored a total of 23 points throughout the course of the game. Gibson Eduful and Baljyot Judge also had great games scoring 15 and 10 points respectively.

 

Humber is currently tied at 6th in the Western division with a record of one win and two losses. Sault will be looking for redemption next game as they are currently sitting in last with no wins and three losses.

 

The Hawks will be playing Sault again tomorrow, Sunday, November 1st at the Humber Athletic Centre. Tip off is scheduled for 3:00pm.
