50 Years of Athletics

Collage with the Humber 50th anniversary logo

Humber College has a rich and storied athletics tradition. Intercollegiate competition officially began in 1967-68 and it only took one year before the Hawks claimed their first OCAA title, a women's curling gold in 1969. It wasn't until 1991 when the Hawks were able to conquer the CCAA mountaintop, as Mike Katz and the men's basketball program won Humber's first national title.

Over the last half-century, student-athletes competing for Humber have won 269 provincial championships and 47 national championships, while 132 athletes have been recognized as CCAA All-Canadians.

Celebrating the accomplishments over the last five decades, the Department of Athletics took a stroll down memory lane, reliving the top moments while honouring the top athletes and most influential during that span.

Thank you to the Humber College family for helping celebrate the passion that fuels us, rediscover the stories and traditions that unite us, and imagine what the future holds for us.
