MARQUEE MATCH-UP AS No.11 HAWKS HOST No. 4 MOHAWK

ETOBICOKE, ON:  Wednesday evening will feature a marquee heavy weight matchup featuring two of the best programs in the country, when No. 4 Mohawk (9-0, 1st West) visit the No. 12 Humber Hawks (6-3, 3rd West). The Mountaineers enter the game as the highest scoring team in the province, averaging 93.6 points-per-game.

In the last month of season, the Hawks rose to the occasion against nationally ranked programs, going a perfect 2-0 while outscoring opponents by an average of five points in those games.  Against the country's second ranked team, Humber went on the road and squeezed out a tough 57-56 win against the Sheridan Bruins.  The following week, the Hawks hosted the tenth ranked Niagara Knights, cruising to an 85-76 win.

Two of the OCAA's highest scorer's will be featured in this game, with Lamar Barr from Mohawk and Gibson Eduful from Humber. Barr has been consistent all season long, averaging 17.6 points-per-game, good for 12th best in the league. Eduful, the reigning OCAA athlete of the week, has been on a tear this season, finishing with double-digit scoring in nine straight games, while averaging 18.2 so far this season.

When the first CCAA rankings of the 2015-16 season was revealed, the Mountaineers opened as the fifth seed and their consistent play on both sides of the floor has helped them remain undefeated and improve in the rankings. Jeff Hunt, a fifth-year forward from Dundas, has been a major factor for the Mountaineers this season and is leading the country in rebounding, averaging 13.4 rebounds-per-game.

In their first meeting this season, the Mountaineers came away with a 94-78 win at home. After the Hawks jumped out to an early lead, Mohawk outscored Humber by 14 points in the second quarter and never looked back. Lamar Barr finished with a game-high 24 points for Mohawk, while freshman Baljyot Judge (Brampton) set a career-high with 18 points for Humber in the loss.

Despite being the reigning national champions, the Hawks had to settle for a silver medal last season in the OCAA championships, where they lost to Mohawk 84-74. CCAA All-Canadian Matt Fennell finished with a double-double, recording a game-high 26 points along with 11 rebounds for Mohawk. OCAA Defensive Player of the Year, Tyrone Dickson, had 14 rebounds and three steals for Humber in the loss.

After missing the first-half dealing with injuries, the Hawks will be welcoming back two key players: CCAA Championship MVP Vule Grujic and First Team All-Star Tyrone Dickson. Standing at six-foot-ten and six-foot-six respectively, these two student-athletes add more height to the Hawks already dynamic lineup.
