HAWKS LOOK TO END FIRST HALF STRONG

ETOBICOKE, ON: After upsetting two of the nation's top ranked teams, the Humber College men's basketball team will be back at it Thursday night, looking to end the first half of the season riding a season-high three game winning streak.  The Hawks will be hosting the Redeemer Royals, who enter this contest with a 2-6 record after losing three-straight games.

Two of the OCAA's highest scorer's will be featured in this game, with Rayvon Higdon from Redeemer and Gibson Eduful from Humber.  Higdon has been consistent all season long, averaging 18.1 points-per-game, good for tenth best in the league.  Eduful, who came in to the season averaging 7.5 points-per-game, has been on a tear this season and is averaging 18.5 on a remarkable 53.8 percent from the floor.

During Redeemers three-game losing streak, the Royals lost tough matchups at home, including two games to ranked CCAA teams.  Their last loss was to the fourth ranked team, Mohawk, who came away with a 95-71 win and improved their record to 8-0.  Josh de Schiffert and Rayvon Higdon finished with 16 points each in the loss.

The Hawks are coming off an upset win over tenth ranked Niagara, to improve their record to a perfect 3-0 at home this season.  Eduful led the attack for the Hawks, recording a career-high 29 points, hitting 13/15 shots.  The return of fourth-year forward Ancil Martin seemed to spark the offence as well, as he finished with 13 points and was perfect from the free throw line.

Over the years, Humber basketball has been quite dominant against Redeemer.  Over their last eight meetings, the Hawks are a perfect 8-0 and have won by an average margin of 26 points-per-game.  In their last meeting at the Humber Athletic Centre, the Hawks cruised to an easy 98-69 victory.  Ancil Martin had a team-high 19 points, while Tyrone Dickson added 13 points and ten rebounds.  John Woldue had a game-high 29 points for Redeemer in the loss.
