No. 8 HAWKS HEAD TO FANSHAWE

LONDON, Ont. – The no. 8 Humber Hawks men's basketball team (8-2, 2nd West) return to the court Saturday evening as they visit the Glenn Johnston Athletic Centre to wrap up their regular season series with the Fanshawe Falcons (5-5, 4th West).

LAST TIME OUT vs FANSHAWE

In the 2016-17 season opener, these two teams met at the Humber Athletic Centre and the Hawks came away with a 79-58 victory.  In the first half, the Hawks smothering defence held Fanshawe to 20 points on 22.2 percent shooting from the floor. Playing in his first game as a Hawk, transfer Trevon Mollison (Brampton) finished with a game-high 15 points off the bench, including a perfect 4/4 from three-point range. The Hawks picked up their first OCAA win in the Patrick Au era.

TRENDING

  • With their win over Redeemer (3-6, 7th West), the Hawks extended their win streak to a season-best seven consecutive games.
  • Tyrone Dickson (Scarborough), Humber's all-time leading rebounder, is averaging a league best 11.7 rebounds-per-game (third best average in the CCAA).
  • In the win over Redeemer, Dickson recorded his sixth double-double of the season and the 32nd of his career.
  • As a team, the Hawks have out-rebounded their opponents by a margin of 12.4 rebounds-per-game, the best in the province and nearly double the margin of second place St. Lawrence (6.5).
  • Defensively, the Hawks allow a league-low 67.5 points-per-game, best in the association.
  • Fifth-year point guard Gibson Eduful (Toronto) is currently ranked fourth in the OCAA, averaging five assists-per-game.

SCOUTING FANSHAWE

  • After winning four consecutive games, the Falcons have now lost three of the last four, including their last two to no. 5 Niagara (7-1, 3rd West) and no. 2 Sheridan (9-0, 1st West).
  • Fanshawe's top scorer Alfred Johnson, averaging 16.7 points-per-game, is no longer on the team for the second-half of the season.
  • Finding wins in London has been difficult for the Hawks, as they currently own an 11-15 record, dating back to 1978.
  • All-time, Humber is 32-21 against Fanshawe, including four consecutive regular season wins.

HAWKS HISTORY

  • Humber's seven game win-streak is the longest streak under head coach Patrick Au.
  • With 12 points against Redeemer on January 11, Tyrone Dickson surpassed Clyde Walters (1978-83) for third all-time in scoring.
  • Gibson Eduful needs only one more point to surpass Walters for sole possession of fourth all-time on Humber's career scoring list.
  • Eduful and Dickson are now the second pair of teammates to play together with 750-plus career points, joining Hall of Famer George McNeil and Henry Frazer who accomplished the feat 30 years ago.
