No.8 HAWKS ON THE ROAD TO PLAY No. 13 KNIGHTS

WELLAND, ON:  The Humber Hawks men's basketball (1-0, 3rd West) program will be heading on the road this Thursday in what already seems like a must win game.  Game two of the season has the CCAA's eighth ranked Hawks travelling to Welland to play the 13th ranked Niagara Knights (1-1, 4th West).

Last season only three wins separated the first and fifth place teams, and with Cambrian College leaving OCAA men's basketball, every conference game has added importance as each school will be playing two less games within the West Division.

Led by a 14-point, ten-rebound double-double from Tyrone Dickson (Scarborough), the Hawks won their season opener 79-58 over the Fanshawe Falcons (0-2, 8th West).

The Knights will be playing their first game at home this season, after opening the year with a loss at Sheridan (2-0, 1st West) and a win at Mohawk (0-1, 6th West).  Niagara's offence features former Northern Oklahoma Tonkawa Maverick (NJCAA) Van Hutchinson Jr., who is averaging 21 points in two games this season.

Niagara 82.5 37.6 27.8 53.1 61.0 12.5

Over their last eight meetings, the Hawks are 6-2 against the Knights; however Niagara won 78-71 when these two teams met at the Welland Athletic Centre last season.  Gibson Eduful (Toronto) finished with a team-high 17 points for Humber, while Marako Lundy (who is no longer with Niagara) finished with a game-high 25 points in the win.

For those unable to make the trip to Welland, the game will be live-streamed thanks to the department of athletics and recreation at Niagara College.  The link is provided below:
