ETOBICOKE, Ont – The Humber men's basketball team (6-2, 3rd West) will be returning to the Humber Athletic Centre Wednesday evening to play the Mohawk Mountaineers (4-4, 5th West) in their last regular season game before the holiday break.
Last Time Out
In front of a tough home crowd, the Hawks were able to hold off the Redeemer Royals (2-4, 7th West) Saturday afternoon and escape with a 77-71 win, extending their win streak to five consecutive games. Ancil Martin (Scarborough) led the Hawks with a season-high 24 points, while Tyrone Dickson (Scarborough) tied a career-high with 19 rebounds.

Wednesday evening will feature the partnership between Humber Athletics and Humber's LGBTQ+ Resource Centre. Approximately 15 minutes prior to tip-off, the ceremony will begin and features a banner that will be unveiled to signify the establishment of Athletics becoming a safe place and a short video will be played to highlight the importance of sport and the role it can play to promote an inclusive culture.

- Defensively, Humber has held their opponents to an OCAA low 67.1 points-per-game.
- The Hawks own a 10.4 rebound margin against their opponents – best in the province. They have also limited their opponents to a league low 10.1 assists-per-game.
- Tyrone Dickson – Humber's all-time leading rebounder – currently ranks second in the OCAA averaging 10.6 rebounds-per-game.
- Baljyot Judge (Brampton) owns the best assist-to-turnover ratio in the Association (6.3).
- Ancil Martin's 58.8 percent shooting from the floor is the second best mark in the league.
- Curwin Elvis (Brampton) is currently shooting 87.5 percent from the free-throw line (2nd OCAA).
- Humber's five-game winning streak is the fourth longest streak by a first-year head coach in program history.
Scouting Mohawk
- After winning four straight games, the Mountaineers have lost two consecutive, including a 96-86 loss to Redeemer at home in their last game.
- Mohawk is led offensively by OCAA all-star Lamar Barr, who is averaging 14.2 points-per-game
- Over the last five seasons these two programs have met in the OCAA championship game three times, including the previous two. In those meetings, Mohawk is 2-1 and both teams went on to win a national championship.
- Jeff Hunt, 2015-16 CCAA Championship All-Star, returns to the Mountaineers this season as an assistant coach
- Over their last 10 regular season meetings, the series is tied at 5-5.
- The Hawks captured their 14th OCAA Championship last season with an 86-78 victory over Mohawk. Freshman C.J. Bennett (Brampton) came off the bench for Humber and finished with a game-high 19 points in the win.
Hawks History Watch
Fifth-year players Tyrone Dickson and Gibson Eduful are poised to move one spot higher on Humber's all-time scoring list after Wednesday's game against Mohawk. Gibson needs only two points to move into sole possession of sixth place, while Dickson needs 16 points to jump from fifth to third.
