ETOBICOKE, Ont: Senior Tyrone Dickson (Scarborough) inched his way up Humber's all-time scoring list Saturday evening, finishing with 11 points and 14 rebounds as the Humber men's basketball team (4-3, 4th West) cruised past the Lambton Lions (0-5, 8th West), 80-54.
Dickson recorded his third double-double of the season, while second-year guard C.J. Bennett (Brampton) scored a season-high 17 points in the win.
The Hawks forced the Lions into a season-high 27 turnovers with 19 steals, representing the most steals by a Humber team under head coach Patrick Au.
Humber and Lambton exchanged baskets early but the Lions shot 52.9 percent from the floor and jumped out to a 22-18 lead after ten minutes. Nikyle Williams-McIntosh (Newmarket) sparked the offence in the second quarter scoring eight points, including two three-pointers as the Hawks outscored the Lions 17-9.
Humber began to pull away in the third quarter when their defence held the Lions to a season-low eight points in the frame. Dickson had seven points and seven rebounds in the third as the Hawks jumped out to a 17-point lead, their largest lead of the game to that point.
Ten Hawks recorded a basket as Humber cruised to the 80-54 victory. Freshman Patrick Falduti (Etobicoke) came off the bench in the fourth to a large cheer from the Humber faithful and hit a long three-pointer for his first career Humber basket.
Gibson Eduful (Toronto), Humber's newest member of the 700-point club, finished with a season-high six steals in the win.
Tyrone Dickson was named the "Hawks Nation" player of the game.
