HAWKS ADD OMAR MILES TO STAFF AS ASSISTANT COACH

ETOBICOKE, Ont -- Humber Hawks men's basketball head coach Patrick Au has announced the hiring of Omar Miles to his staff.  Miles will serve as the team's new assistant coach, following a lucrative coaching career at St. Edmund Campion Secondary School in Brampton.

"I would like to thank Coach Au for the opportunity presented to me," remarked Miles. "I have always wanted to coach at the post-secondary school level and having this wonderful opportunity with this program; I am very grateful."

At St. Edmund Campion, Miles was the head coach of the senior boys' team for six seasons, where he led the Bears to an OFSAA silver medal in 2015.

"Omar brings with him an outstanding record of developing players at the high school level," said Director of Athletics Ray Chateau.  "His experience at Campion is an excellent fit with our program."

Before his coaching career, Miles was a five-year starter for Wilfred Laurier of the OUA and graduated in 2007 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Geography with a Minor in French.  As a rookie, the Mississauga native was named to the OUA's men's basketball rookie all-star team.

"Coach Miles is a great addition to the Humber family," said Coach Au. "He brings an extensive amount of experience, not only from his playing days at Laurier but through his hard work in developing the basketball program at Campion. Not only will our players benefit from his experience and high levels of enthusiasm for the game but so too will the staff.  He will play an important role as we continue to strive for excellence."

For Coach Miles and the rest of the Humber men's basketball team, the OCAA season officially begins October 26th with a home game against the Fanshawe Falcons.
