HAWKS SIGN FIRST RECRUIT OF THE SUMMER

ETOBICOKE, ON:  Humber Hawks men's basketball head coach Patrick Au is pleased to announce the signing of DeQuon Cascart for the upcoming 2016-17 season.

Cascart, a six-foot guard from Toronto, On., helped lead Oakwood Collegiate Institute to the OFSAA finals twice during his high school career.  Under the guidance of head coach Anthony Miller, Cascart and the Barons posted a 29-3 record this season and entered the tournament as the third ranked team in the province, before settling for a silver medal.

"We are very excited to have DeQuon join our program here at Humber College," said Coach Au.  "He has a great pedigree coming from Oakwood and he knows what it takes to be a part of a successful culture."

For DeQuon, committing to the defending provincial champions was an easy choice. He competed in the Humber Basketball Classic multiple times and was also teammates with current Hawks guard Jordan Rose

"Humber College is the best place for me," said Cascart. "I'm looking to become a better player and help Humber win more championships."

After winning most improved player for the Barons in his junior year, Cascart has developed into a two-way player.

"DeQuon is an exceptional athlete with immense talent on both ends of the floor," added Coach Au.  "We look forward to working with him every day and helping him reach his full potential as a student-athlete."

At Humber, Cascart will be enrolled in the Home Renovation Technician program, as he pursues his dream of flipping houses upon graduation.

Cascart and the rest of the Hawks begin their exhibition season on August 9th, when Charleston Southern University comes to the Humber Athletic Centre.
