HAWKS HEADED TO SAULT FOR WEEKEND DOUBLEHEADER

SAULT STE. MARIE, ON: The Humber Hawks men's basketball (1-2, 6th West) program will be headed on a long road trip to play in a weekend doubleheader with the Sault College Cougars (0-6, 9th West).

The road trip comes at a perfect time for the Hawks after losing consecutive games with poor fourth quarter performances.  Humber's most recent loss came to the no. 2 ranked team in the country, the Sheridan Bruins (5-0, 1st West).  In a tied contest through the first 30 minutes of game time, the Bruins pulled out the 79-74 win when Humber's shooting went cold in the fourth quarter.

The Cougars are winless so far this season and will be playing their first games at home in the month of November.  Their last loss was their best game of the season, an 82-72 defeat by Mohawk College (2-2, 5th West).  Michael Heptbourne recorded a game-high 21 points in the loss and continues to be the Cougars go to offensive option.  In six games this season, Heptbourne is averaging 14.7 points-per-game and recorded a season-high 25 points in a November 6th loss to Fanshawe (4-2, 3rd West).

Sault College has the potential to end two streaks if they can pull off an upset over the weekend against Humber.  The first is a ten-game OCAA losing streak that dates back to last season.  The second is a losing streak against Humber that is almost a decade old.  When the OCAA switched to two divisions for the 2007 basketball season, the Cougars and Hawks have met twice annually and Humber is 18-0 over that span.

In their last meeting, the Hawks cruised to an easy 83-53 win at the Humber Athletic Centre, behind a team-high 17 points from point guard Gibson Eduful (Toronto).  In the second quarter, Humber's defence held the Cougars to a season-low four points in the frame.  The Hawks were also able to hold Michael Heptbourne to seven points in 30 minutes of action.

The first game is scheduled for November 19th at 8:00pm and game two will be November 20th with tip-off set for 3:00pm.
