HAWKS SIGN NIAGARA REGION STANDOUT JAROD STEFANIUK

ETOBICOKE, ON: Humber Hawks head coach Patrick Au has announced that Jarod Stefaniuk has committed to attend Humber College next fall and will play basketball for the defending provincial champions in the upcoming 2016-17 OCAA season.

A native of Grimsby, On., the six-foot-nine, 235-pound forward has spent the last four years playing basketball for the Blessed Trinity Thunder, where he was a two-time team MVP. As a senior, Stefaniuk was named a Zone 4 All-Star and participated in the Take it to Court High School All-Star Game at Brock University.

"We've been blessed in the last few years to have had some skilled bigs play for us and Jarod fits that mold," said Coach Au. "He possesses great instincts around the basket and we are really looking forward to working with him on his development. Jarod has a great demeanor about him, not only will this help with his transition to the OCAA, but it will be a great addition to our locker room."

Stefaniuk's father is a Humber alumnus, making Jarod a legacy.

"I picked Humber for the opportunity to get into a two-year program of health and fitness, then switch into the Kinesiology program at Guelph-Humber," said Stefaniuk. "My father also attended Humber, so I felt that it was right."

Stefaniuk joins DeQuon Cascart as part of the 2016 recruiting class and will join the rest of the Hawks when their exhibition season begins on August 9th, when Charleston Southern University (NCAA-DI) comes to the Humber Athletic Centre.
