HAWKS HOST FALCONS TO OPEN 2016 REGULAR SEASON

ETOBICOKE, ON: The Humber Hawks men's basketball team, 2016 CCAA silver and OCAA gold medalists, will open the regular season on home court this Wednesday evening at the Humber Athletic Centre. London's Fanshawe Falcons will provide the opposition in the game, which is slated for an 8:00 pm tip.

Humber, as mentioned above, are the defending OCAA champions, coming to win from the third spot in the West Division with a record of 13-5. Fanshawe struggled through their worst season in recent history, losing their first 13 straight to start the season, before winning four of the last five to end with a mark of 4-14.

The two games between these teams last season resulted in an incredibly tight game and a blowout. The first was a huge come from behind, one point win by Humber in London. The second had the Hawks win by 28 points against an injured and undermanned Falcons squad.

Fanshawe comes into the game with a lineup that features an equal amount of freshman and returning players. Connor Therrien, at 17 points per game, returns as the only player among the top four scorers for the Falcons last year.

Humber remains deep, and has key three players coming back for their fifth and final year. Tyrone Dickson, Ancil Martin and Gibson Eduful have all been impactful players on the team that has had considerable success, including a gold and silver at CCAA Nationals.

With the game being the opener for both teams, trying to provide a prediction as to who will win is almost impossible. The one sure thing is that Fanshawe will not put in the same performance as last year.

Hawks Nation will be on site to welcome all fans and treat them to new Humber swag along the way. As always, entrance to the games is free.
