LEAGUE HONOURS COACH SHARMA FOR THIRD TIME

TORONTO, Ont – Humber's Ajay Sharma was named OCAA West Division Coach of the Year at the league's annual awards banquet.

Sharma, the only women's basketball head coach in the OCAA to win a national championship, led the Hawks to its second consecutive 18-0 regular season. In fact, Humber has won an OCAA record 42 consecutive CCAA regular and postseason games.

A brilliant offensive mind, Sharma's teams have broken the OCAA scoring record in back-to-back seasons and became the first program to ever score 1,500 points in a season.

Sharma inherited a program that went five seasons without an OCAA medal and since his hire, the Hawks have won three medals, including consecutive provincial titles.  In total, the women's program has an outstanding overall record of 110-21 (.840) under his watch.

Sharma has now won the OCAA West Division Coach of the Year award for the third time in four years.

Two of Sharma's student-athletes were named OCAA All-Stars while his point guard Ceejay Nofuente was also named a CCAA All-Canadian and the OCAA Women's Basketball Player of the Year for the second consecutive year.

Sharma and the No. 1 Hawks will now focus on trying to win their third consecutive provincial title at the OCAA Championship presented by belairdirect.  The Hawks will match up with the St. Clair Saints in the quarter-finals, with tip-off scheduled for 1 p.m.
