No.1 HAWKS CRUISE TO WIN OVER NIAGARA

WELLAND, ON: The CCAA's top ranked program improved to 2-0 this season after a dominating 75-57 win over the Niagara Knights (1-2, 5th West).

Reigning CCAA Player of the Year Ceejay Nofuente (Toronto) recorded her second double-double of the season, finishing with a game-high 19 points and 13 assists.  Jill Semple (Etobicoke), Leticia Lopez (Toronto), and Amber Bechard (Windsor) all scored in double-digits as well, finishing with 12, 11 and ten points respectively.  Stephanie Antwi (Toronto) finished with a team-high eight rebounds as well.

In front of a packed house at the Welland Athletic Centre, the Hawks jumped out to a quick 14-4 lead and never looked back.

Humber's smothering defence was on display in the second quarter, as they held the Knights to a season-low six points in the frame.  It was the second time this season the Hawks have held their opponents to six or fewer points in a quarter.

After dominating through the first 30 minutes of the game, Niagara was able to cut into the Hawks lead, outscoring Humber 20-13 in the final quarter.

Led by Nofuente's game-high six steals, the Hawks forced Niagara into 27 turnovers, which turned in to 23 points.

The win was Humber's 39th consecutive against OCAA opponents during regular and postseason play.

The Hawks will now have a week off before hosting the Sheridan Bruins (0-4, 9th West) on Saturday, November 12th at the Humber Athletic Centre.
