DEFENDING NATIONAL CHAMPIONS SIGN FIRST RECRUIT

ETOBICOKE, ON: After completing the greatest basketball season in OCAA history, the Humber Hawks women's basketball program has begun to set their sights on defending their national championship. The first order of business for the Hawks came from head coach Ajay Sharma with the announcement of his first recruit Miea Campbell-Johnson.

A native of Brampton, Campbell-Johnson is a six-foot forward who attended St. Marguerite d'Youville Secondary School and was named team MVP after averaging a double-double for the Panthers.

"We are extremely excited to have Miea join our basketball team," said 2016 CCAA Coach of the Year Ajay Sharma.  "She is a tremendous athlete and an elite rebounder who will mesh nicely with our offensive and defensive schemes."

With Ontario Basketball, Campbell-Johnson competes with the U19 Toronto Triple Threat.  Back in June, the Ontario Basketball League (OBL) hosted their first annual All-Star Showcase at HoopDome where Miea competed against the top U19 talent in the province.

Last year, Campbell-Johnson was invited to Canada Elite's Media Day, which showcased the top talent from the Greater Toronto Area. Her highlight video can be found here (scroll to the 1:42 mark).

The OCAA season officially begins for Miea on October 26 when the Hawks host the Fanshawe Falcons, as they pursue their third consecutive provincial championship.
