NOFUENTE RECOGNIZED AS LEAGUE'S BEST ONCE AGAIN

TORONTO, Ont – Humber women's basketball has gotten used to this consecutive thing.

Following its fourth consecutive west division title, the Hawks had a second consecutive OCAA Player of the Year chosen on Thursday morning.  Fourth-year point guard Ceejay Nofuente took the prize for the second year in a row, becoming the first Humber women's basketball player to accomplish the feat.

At the annual awards banquet, the Toronto native was named a first-team all-star for the third straight year, while also being named an All-Canadian for the second consecutive season.

After putting the CCAA on notice last year with an all-time season that saw her garner every major award the league has to offer, Nofuente returned even more driven, determined to help her team defend its national championship.

At the conclusion of the regular season, Nofuente had set the OCAA record for assists (124) and steals (101) for the second consecutive year, while establishing new single-game records for points (55) and three-pointers (13).  She also became the all-time leading scorer in Humber history, while breaking Donna Lidstone's 36-year-old single season scoring record.

Despite the numerous awards and accolades, Nofuente's main goal is to return the Hawks to provincial and national glory.  No. 1 Humber will be looking to win three consecutive championships for the first time in program history when it opens the three-day tournament today against St. Clair at 1 p.m.
