RIGHT BACK TO WORK FOR No. 1 HAWKS

HAMILTON, Ont. -- Only six games remain in the 2016-17 OCAA season and Saturday afternoon the no. 1 Humber Hawks (12-0, 1st West) will be on the road to wrap up their season series with the Mohawk Mountaineers (8-3, 3rd West)

LAST TIME OUT vs MOHAWK

As they wrapped up the fall semester, the Hawks defeated the Mountaineers 89-64 in a rematch of the 2016 OCAA Championship.  CCAA championship all-star Jill Semple recorded a season-high 18 points in the win for Humber, while Ceejay Nofuente and Aleena Domingo both recorded double-doubles. Sam Pocrnic had her fourth 20-plus point scoring game of the first half for Mohawk.

STREAKING

  • The Hawks have won an OCAA record 36 consecutive CCAA regular and postseason games.
  • Humber has also won 49 consecutive OCAA regular and postseason games, the second longest streak in conference history.  The Algonquin Thunder won 67 consecutive OCAA games from November 5, 2011 until January 15, 2015, a span of 1,167 days.

TRENDING

  • After holding the Niagara Knights (7-5, 5th West) to a season-low 44 points on Wednesday, the Hawks once again feature the highest scoring offence in the conference and are averaging 77.9 points-per-game.
  • Humber has knocked in five-plus threes in all 12 games this season.
  • Humber has won 21 consecutive OCAA road games – last loss was November 2014 to St. Clair College.
  • Ceejay Nofuente is currently leading the CCAA in three-points made (42), total assists (94) and steals (74). She is also third in scoring average with 22.8 ppg.

SCOUTING MOHAWK

  • After forfeiting their first game due to an ineligible coach, the Mountaineers won six consecutive games.
  • Mohawk was ranked as the no. 8 program in the CCAA for the entire fall semester.
  • Sam Pocrnic is ranked sixth in the OCAA in scoring, averaging 18.3 points-per-game.
  • For two consecutive seasons, the Hawks and Mountaineers have met in the OCAA championship game.  All-time, Humber is 3-0 against Mohawk in championship games.
  • This will be the 49th regular season meeting between these two programs, with Humber winning the series 36-13.

HAWKS HISTORY

  • After establishing new OCAA single game records for points (55) and three-pointers made (13) earlier this month, Ceejay Nofuente became the program's all-time leading scorer Wednesday night.
  • Aleena Domingo is now the fifth Humber women's basketball player to score 700-plus points in a career.
  • Head coach Ajay Sharma currently became the third women's coach to surpass 100 career wins and currently sits at 104 wins 21 losses.
