FINAL ROAD GAME OF FALL SEMESTER FOR No.1 HAWKS

ANCASTER, Ont – After taking care of no. 14 St. Clair (7-2, 2nd West) at home over the weekend, Humber women's basketball (7-0, 1st West) will be heading to Ancaster for their last regular season road game of the fall semester.  Awaiting the Hawks will be the red-hot Redeemer Royals (4-3, 6th West), fresh off their upset win over no. 8 Mohawk College (6-2, 3rd West).

Last Time Out
Behind the play of senior guards Ceejay Nofuente (Toronto) and Amber Bechard (Tecumseh), the Hawks defeated St. Clair, 91-63, Sunday afternoon at the Humber Athletic Centre. Nofuente finished with a career-high 40 points, while recording her sixth double-double of the season after grabbing 10 rebounds. Bechard, playing against her hometown college, finished with career-highs in scoring (18) and assists (6).

Scouting Redeemer

  • The Royals pulled off a 72-68 win over no. 8 Mohawk Tuesday evening, picking up their first win against the Mountaineers in over seven years.
  • Redeemer narrowly missed the playoffs last season after finishing 7-11, good enough for seventh place. 
  • The Royals are led by all-star Jesseca Brown who is averaging 19.3 ppg and won the West division scoring title last season.
  • The Hawks are 35-0 all-time against Redeemer, dating back to their first matchup during the 1991-92 OCAA season
  • Humber has scored 100-plus points in three games against the Royals.  The last coming in a 105-49 win during the 1995-96
  • Over the last five seasons, the Hawks own a perfect 10-0 record against the Royals, winning by an average of 30 points-per-game. In their last meeting, the Hawks came away with an 81-59 win behind Nofuente's 16-point 11-assist double-double.

Hawks History Watch

In his sixth season at the helm, head coach Ajay Sharma is one win shy of 100 for his career.  Coach Sharma currently owns a 99-21 (.825) record and is one win away from joining legendary Hawks coach Jim Henderson and Denise Perrier as the only coaches to hit the 100 career wins milestone. 

The all-time leading scorers in program history continues to change as Hawks superstars Ceejay Nofuente and Aleena Domingo continue to move up the rankings.
