MEN’S BASEBALL ADDS ANOTHER LOCAL RECRUIT

MEN’S BASEBALL ADDS ANOTHER LOCAL RECRUIT

ETOBICOKE, ON: The Humber Hawks will have a strong local presence in the upcoming season.

Recruiting local talent has been the theme of the offseason for men's baseball after the recent addition of Hunter Bisser.  The six-foot catcher from Monsignor Percy Johnson CSS in Toronto has committed to the Hawks for the upcoming 2016 season.

"Hunter is yet another talented athlete that we have been able to recruit out of the high school ranks," assistant coach Matthew Ferreira said at the announcement last Wednesday.  "He is a solid catch and throw guy who will team with Blake Kauer to give us a very good combination behind the plate."

Bisser was named Athlete of the Year at Monsignor Percy Johnson, demonstrating his ability to become a universal player for the Hawks at multiple positions.

"Hunter adds a dimension of versatility to our roster, as he's more than capable of playing all three outfield positions," added Coach Ferreira.  "In continuing to address an off-season need, Hunter is also a plus runner who will be a threat on the base paths."

"I have only ever heard great things about this school," responded Bisser when asked why he chose Humber College.  "Combined with high-caliber baseball, I am very excited to begin my post-secondary career."

A three-time Ontario Baseball Association champion, Bisser will be enrolling in the Business Management degree at Humber College.

"I've enrolled in the business management program because I would eventually like to start my own construction/carpentry business," added Bisser.

A product of the Etobicoke Rangers 18U team, the Humber coaching staff is very familiar with Bisser. Hawks head coach Denny Berni has spent over 20 years with the Rangers organization and continues recruit from the organization.  Bisser will also be reuniting with old teammate Kenneth Hahnfield.

Hunter Bisser is the sixth recruit announced by Coach Ferreira this season, joining Rory Pollard (Orangeville), Daniel Marquez (Cambridge), Liam Sutherland (Ottawa), Aaron Arbic-Cohen (Georgetown) and Daniel Cirillo (Brampton).  Bisser and the rest of the Hawks will begin summer camp August 22-24 in preparation of the 2016 baseball season.
