HAWKS SWEEP RYERSON IN PRE-SEASON DOUBLEHEADER FRIENDLY

ETOBICOKE, Ontario: The Humber Hawks took to the field for the first time this Fall, as the Ryerson Rams rambled into Connorvale Park on Sunday for a pre-season doubleheader "friendly". Both teams used this opportunity to further the tryout process, allowing those players who made it through the first round of cuts to showcase their skills in an actual game.

The Hawks withstood a shaky start and a 6-0 deficit to rally and defeat the Rams in Game 1 by a score of 14-9. Ryerson jumped in front in Game 2, but the Hawks responded with 5 by the end of the third. The visting Rams pulledto within one, but failed to rally in the seventh. The final score of Game 2 was 5-4, Hawks.

Humber has a number of exhibition tilts left before the start of the season on Friday, September 11 at George Brown. The Hawks will  play Laurier on Thursday in Brantford, then travel to update New York to take on Herkimer College over the Labour Day weekend. Another friendly at Brock is scheduled for the first week of school.

The home opener for Humber is Sunday, September 13, at Connorvale Park. Game times are slated for 1 and 3 pm.
