HAWKS SHINE IN 2015 OUA/OCAA BASEBALL ALL STAR GAME

TORONTO: The Humber Hawks were represented by a talented threesome at the 2nd Annual OUA/OCAA Men's Baseball All Star game, which was held on Saturday evening at the Rogers Centre. Although the OCAA came out on the losing end of an 11 inning thriller by a score of 8-4, the Humber Hawks representatives played extremely well.

Daniel Campos started the game in centerfield, where he played flawless defence in running down a number of balls. On the offensive side he contributed a team high two hits, scored a run and drilled a 385 foot sacrifice fly that drove the defender to the wall in right centre field.

Brian MacDonald, the 2014 OCAA home run and rbi's leader, knocked in a run in his second at bat on the day. He did not play in the field as he started the game as the OCAA designated hitter.

Sean Mattson made the OCAA game MVP selection a toss-up, which eventually went to Fanshawe shortstop Paul Lytwynec. Mattson collected 2 hits, the second a massive shot that went off the wall for a double. He also scored a team high 2 runs. Defensively he turned both plays into outs that were hit his way.

Denny Berni, Hawks Head Coach, joined the OCAA coaching staff for the second year in a row.

The game was tied after 9 complete at three runs apiece. The OCAA had a chance to win the game in the bottom of the 10th, but a shot up the middle was snared by the OUA pitcher. With the game scheduled to end after the tenth inning, the teams and the crowd politicked for another inning, where the OUA lit it up for 5 runs. The OCAA responded in the bottom of the inning, but the deficit was too much to overcome.

The game took place after the Blue Jays/Red Sox game, and attracted a crowd numbering around 500 people.
