HAWKS TRAVEL TO OSHAWA FOR KEY MATCHUP WITH LORDS

OSHAWA, Ontario: The Humber Hawks men's baseball team will travel to Oshawa to play the Durham Lords in a key match-up that will have significant implications in the final play-off picture. The matinee doubleheader, from Kinsmen Park in Oshawa, will start at 1:00 pm, followed immediately with game two at approximately 3:00 pm.

The host Lords currently sit with a record of 3-3, as like the Hawks, they have had an issue with early season weather. They are coming off two dominating, shortened to five inning games, against George Brown.

Their bats were alive in that series, just as they have been all year, as they are averaging eight runs a game in offence. Jack Lang and Jake Legros check in with identical .471 averages, with Legros registering one of the team's three home runs.

As offensively devastating they have been, their pitching staff has been knocked around a bit, sporting a team ERA of 6.12. But, they do have veteran Ilija Bozinovski still in the fold, and he is capable of shutting teams down on any night.

The Hawks, at 4-3, squeezed out a 6-3 win over the last place Seneca Sting on Wednesday, but a sweep on the road would put them in a solid playoff position as the season rolls on.

Former Canadian Junior national player Sean Mattson leads the Hawks with a .500 average and tied for the team lead in hits with eight. Perennial All Star Daniel Campos is next up, with a lofty .348 average.

On the mound the Hawks have been very solid, allowing only 17 runs over the first seven games and boast a team ERA of 1.92. They have capable arms starting and finishing games, and this is something that may put them in a position for post-season success, especially in the double knockout style championships.
