HAWKS SWEEP FIRST SERIES OF THE SEASON WITH 10-0 & 9-1 WINS

TORONTO, Ontario: The Humber Hawks men's baseball team, on the road against George Brown to open the 2015 season, finished the first game early with a 10-0, 5 inning win. The second game was just as dominant for the visiting Hawks, as they topped the Huskies 9-1.

In the first game the Hawks scored early and tacked on the rest of the way in a 10-0, mercy shortened win over the Huskies. Humber opened with three runs in the first, and were up by four at the end of four. The fifth was where the Hawks put it away, as they scored six runs, and then shut down the home squad in the bottom of the fifth.

The winning pitcher for Humber was veteran Brandon Habibi, who returned to the Hawks line-up after a year's absence. He had four strikeouts on the night. Centre Fielder Andrew Thomson had a terrific outing at the plate, as he went 3-4 at the plate and knocked in three runs. Daniel Campos lit up the base path with three stolen bases.

The Hawk scored early once again to open game two, plating two runs. By the end of three, Humber extended the lead to 4-0. Humber nosed close to a second mercy on the night, as they led 8-0 after five innings, but the Huskies fought throughout and the game ended at 9-1.

In his OCAA debut, Andrew Blakey-Lopez was the winning pitcher for the Hawks, as he went five innings and did not allow a run.

Humber will now play their home opener on Sunday, September 13 against the Seneca Sting in doubleheader action. The first pitch of GameOne, which takes place at Connorvale Park in Etobicoke, is slated for 1:00 pm. Game Two has a 3:00 start.
