HAWKS AND STING HOPE TO FINALLY GET DOUBLE DIP IN

ETOBICOKE, ON: The weather has been unkind to the Hawks and Seneca Sting, not just between the two teams, but for a number of scheduled games involving them. Both still have games to be made up, and because of that, see the standings skewed a bit.

On Tuesday the two squads will make up a doubleheader that was originally scheduled to open the season for both, but rain washed it away. Game One is set for 6:00 pm and Game Two will start immediately after. Connorvale Park, in South Etobicoke, will be the venue.

Seneca has shown incredible improvement this year, and boast a very solid pitching staff. A play-off spot is still in sight, so a win or two against teams ahead of them in the standings could bear fruit as the season winds down.

Humber is currently tied with Fanshawe in second place and are pretty comfortably set with a play-off birth, but wins the rest of the way could ensure them a home play-off game in the first round.

These two teams have met twice, with the Hawks scoring a tight 4-2 win on the road a week ago. Humber also took the first, this one by a score of 6-2.

As mentioned above, the Sting strength lies in their pitching. Should they add some timely hitting along the way, they would be in a position to win many more games.

Scoring has not been a problem for the home team, as they lead the league with 104 runs. Their pitching has been very good as well, and has been bolstered by former Arizona Diamondback prospect Jeff Gibbs. Gibbs pitched six innings for the win over the Sting last week.
