HAWKS VIE FOR OCAA GOLD SATURDAY AFTERNOON IN NORTH BAY

NORTH BAY, ON: The Humber Hawks women's volleyball team will look to repeat as OCAA champions this afternoon in the 2016 OCAA Gold Medal game against the Niagara Knights, with the first serve slated for 4:00 pm.

The Hawks advanced to the title game by way of a 3-1 win over the Fanshawe Falcons, while Niagara knocked off the Durham Lords in four tight sets.

The two teams have faced each other on two occasions this year, with Humber taking both matches. The first was a 3-set sweep at Humber, and the latest was a 3-1 win on the Knights home court in Welland.

The first game was dominated by the Hawks Thalia Hanniman, as she registered 17 offensive points. On this day, no Knights player was able to hit the 6 point mark. The second match saw the "Hanniman-less" Hawks have four players have great nights, with all scoring 12 or more points in the game. Rachel Rivers of the Niagara squad hit for double digits, finishing with 11 points.

Both teams have excelled this week, and are both deserving of being in the big game. Niagara has been steady, playing great defence and putting balls away when the opportunity arose, while the Hawks have passed so well that second year setter Brittany Vanderlaan has been able to get the ball to the multiple of bangers on the Humber squad.

The game will be streamed "LIVE":
