TWO MATCHES IN TWO DAYS FOR WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL

TWO MATCHES IN TWO DAYS FOR WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL

ETOBICOKE, ON: The upcoming weekend for the Humber College women's volleyball team has the Hawks hosting the Cambrian Golden Shield and Boreal Viperes on back-to-back days.

First up for the Hawks on Saturday, November 28 will be the difficult Cambrian Golden Shield.  The Golden Shield, sitting at 6-2 and ranked seventh in the OCAA, will be making the trip down from Sudbury to play the CCAA's third ranked program.

Cambrian has won six of the last seven matches, with their only loss coming from the Fanshawe Falcons, a match they lost in straight sets.  The Falcons are responsible for both of Cambrian's losses this season.  The last match for Cambrian was a straight set sweep against Conestoga, where Kelsey Watson finished with a game-high 12 points in the win.

On offence, the Golden Shield are led by Sara Charlton and Amanda Kring.  Charlton has finished recorded double-digit in scoring in four matches this season.

Over the last two seasons, the Hawks are 4-0 against Cambrian, winning 12 sets and losing two.  The last two times these programs met at the Humber Athletic Centre, the Hawks narrowly escaped with a 3-2 victory.  Charlton and Kring led the way for Cambrian in the loss, the only team to win the first set against the Hawks all season.  CCAA All-Canadian Thalia Hanniman led all scorers with 22 points in the match.

After the match against Cambrian, the Hawks will have little turnaround before they have to play the Boreal Viperes on Sunday, November 29.  The Viperes have yet to win a game this season and are 0-4 against the Hawks since joining the west division in 2014.  Marilyne St-Godard is the leading scorer for the Viperes.
