HAWKS COME TOGETHER FOR SOLID ROAD WIN OVER NIAGARA

WELLAND, ON: The Humber Hawks women's volleyball team ran their record to 11-0 with a 3-1 (25-16, 24-26, 25-17, 25-18) win over the host Niagara Knights on Wednesday night.

The Hawks jumped out to a quick lead in the first set, and rolled on to the dominating 9 point win.

The second set started out in the exact same fashion, with Humber running out to a big 9-3 lead. Niagara called a timeout and the tide started to turn. The Hawks kept the lead, although slimming as the set moved on. Another timeout helped push the Knights closer. A key call by the floor official, challenged without benefit by the Hawk coaching staff, helped catapult the Knights to a 26-24 set win.

The next two sets, recorded as 25-17 and 25-18 wins for Humber, were almost mistake free for the visiting Humber squad. Strong serving and great defence forced Niagara into many errors. And once the Hawks moved into the lead, they did not allow the Knights any opportunity to respond.

Humber will take to the home court on Sunday afternoon at 1:00 pm, as the St. Clair Saints roll into the Humber Athletic Centre.
