HAWKS RETURN HOME FOR SUNDAY MATCHUP WITH ST. CLAIR

ETOBICOKE, ON: The Humber Hawks women's volleyball team, who are inching ever closer to yet another West Division title, will be back on home court at the Humber Athletic Centre this coming Sunday afternoon as they host Windsor's St. Clair Saints. The first serve is slated to fly at 1:00 pm.

The Hawks, at 11-0, will be looking to extend this undefeated string, and have all but locked up a playoff spot and automatic bye in the playoffs. The Saints, on the other hand, come into the game with a sense of urgency. At a very respectable 6-5 on the year, they are in a dogfight with a number of teams for a playoff spot. Seven of the West Division teams are vying for six spots, while three teams look to be out of contention.

These two teams met earlier in a match in Windsor, with the Hawks winning the match in three sets by scores of 25-17, 25-18, 25-17. Leading the Hawks on that day, in what has become commonplace with the Hawks over the past few years, was Thalia Hanniman and her 12 offensive points. Shalena Horst led the way for the Saints, putting up 4 kills and 4 aces, for 8 total points.

Over the course of the season it has been Hanniman leading the way, with a season long average of 4.5 points per set. The Humber squad is offensively skilled and deep, as evidenced by having 7 players with scoring averages above 2.0.

Horst led the way in the games against the Hawks for St. Clair and also carries that spot in season long offensive numbers. She checks in with a solid mark of 3.3 pps, and is 4th in the entire league in service aces. Three other St. Clair players have contributed at least 2 pps.
