HAWKS TRAVEL TO LONDON FOR 2ND BATTLE OF THE BIRDS

By Ashleigh Darrach

LONDON, ON: The Humber Hawks women's volleyball team will be hitting the road this weekend in their last away game of the regular season against the Fanshawe Falcons, in London.

Humber is still undefeated as they head into this match sitting at a 16-0 record, while the Falcons are 11-5.

The last time the two teams met up was on home court at Humber. Humber won the match 3-0 against the Falcons.

Offense allowed Humber to maintain their lead on Fanshawe last time. In the previous games big kills at the net by Elizabeth Deakin-Poot, Deborah Mitchell and Thalian Hanniman allowed for the Hawks to win the first and third set with a comfortable gap. However, the second set was close for Humber in a 28-26 final.

Thalia Hanniman and Deborah Mitchell had the most kills during the match with a total of 9 each. Hanniman also had three serving aces during the match.

Fanshawe's Darian Gropp followed closely behind with a total of 8 kills in the match.

Not only was Humber pushing with offense, but they also made more digs than Fanshawe last round.

Fanshawe came in at 29 digs in the match, 11 of which were made by Kristen Bond. Humber had a match total of 34 digs.

Last time Fanshawe played Humber, three of Humber's big hitters, Devan O'Connor, Brynne Coleman and Kelsey Kovar were out, and they have since been cleared to play, and will be used as a valuable asset to beat Fanshawe.

The first serve will take place at 1:00 pm on Saturday afternoon at the Fanshawe Athletic Centre.
