No. 2 HAWKS HEADED BACK TO OCAA GOLD MEDAL GAME

WELLAND, ON: Two of the province's best programs will put it all on the line Saturday night as they compete for the association's top prize.  In a rematch of last season's championship game, the no.2 Humber Hawks and no.8 Mohawk Mountaineers will once again meet to see who has the best program in the OCAA.

The Mountaineers narrowly escaped Algonquin in the semi-finals, coming away with an 88-87 victory in overtime.  Mohawk trailed by 14 at half; however their perseverance paid off as they chipped away at the lead and forced overtime.  Shanien O'Neill hit the game winning free throw with 1.4 seconds left.

The Hawks enter the championship coming off their most dominant win of the season after defeating the Fanshawe Falcons 71-49, after fourth-year forward Atissa Cronk (Kingston) recorded a season-high 21 points in the win.

When these teams met in the championship last season, Humber came away with a 61-46 win, securing their seventh gold medal in program history.  Atissa Cronk and Nofuente (Toronto) were named championship all-stars.

Both programs enter this game fully decorated with OCAA medals, with Mohawk leading the charge at 21 total.  The Mountaineers have won two consecutive silver medals and will be looking for their first gold medal in 25 years.

The Hawks have a chance to complete only the second perfect season in program history and win their eighteenth OCAA medal.
