THREE GAMES REMAIN FOR NO. 2 HAWKS IN OCAA REGULAR SEASON

ANCASTER, ON: Only three games remain in the OCAA regular season for the Humber women's basketball (15-0, 1st West) team and the Hawks have already locked up the top seed in the west division for the third consecutive season.  During that span, the defending provincial champions are an incredible 50-4 against OCAA competition, including a current 31 game win streak.

With a playoff spot locked up, the Hawks will be looking to end the season playing their best basketball in hopes of becoming the first women's basketball team from the OCAA to win a national championship.

On Friday, the Hawks will travel to Ancaster to play the Redeemer Royals (5-9, 7th West), a team headed in the opposite direction.  The Royals have lost seven of their last eight games and have a 2-4 record at home so far this season.

The Royals feature the third highest scorer in the province, fourth-year guard Jesseca Brown.  A native of New Brunswick, Brown is averaging an impressive 18.3 points-per-game.  For Humber, Ceejay Nofuente and Llyandra Kerr are both top 15, averaging 13.6 and 13.2 ppg respectively.

As a team, the Hawks are averaging a league best 80.8 ppg and are on pace to break the single-season OCAA record of 1,392 points in a season.  The record was set by the 1998-99 Humber Hawks, a team that fell to Ste-Foy in the CCAA bronze medal game.  Tanya Sadler and Aman Hasebenebi each scored over 240 points that season for Humber.

For those unable to make the trip to Ancaster, the game will be live-streamed thanks to the department of athletics and recreation at Redeemer University.  The link is provided below:
