No. 2 HAWKS LOOK TO EXTEND WIN STREAK TO 30 STRAIGHT

ETOBICOKE, On: The Humber Hawks women's basketball (13-0, 1st West) program extended their win streak against OCAA opponents to 29 games after defeating the Cambrian Golden Shield (0-11, 10th West) in a weekend double-header.

Sunday's win over Cambrian saw the Hawks score 120 points, three points shy of the of the OCAA single-game record set by the Seneca Sting in 2008.  Haeven Durrant (Toronto), new to the Hawks roster, played major minutes over the weekend to get accustomed to her new team.  In the two games, the five-foot-nine forward averaged 16 points and 11 rebounds.

The St. Clair Saints (8-3, 4th West) have won seven of their last nine games, with both losses coming from the Fanshawe Falcons (9-4, 2nd West). St. Clair currently features the fifth best scorer in the province, Jaide Lyons. The fifth-year guard is averaging 16.2 ppg and recorded a season-high 25 points against Redeemer (5-8, 6th West) back in November.

Humber's last OCAA loss came last season, after dropping a road game to the Saints by a score of 67-63.  The Hawks started out slow, scoring six points in the opening frame and were unable to over the deficit.  Shannon Kennedy finished with a game-high 17 points in the win for St. Clair, while Llyandra Kerr (Markham) recorded a career-high 19 rebounds for Humber in the loss.

Over their last three matchups at the Humber Athletic Centre, the Hawks are 3-0 while outscoring the Saints by an average of nine points each contest.

Look for the Hawks to keep their fouls to minimum in this game, as the Saints are shooting an efficient 66.5 percent from the free throw line.
