OCAA SEMI-FINAL SHOWDOWN: No.2 HAWKS VS No.10 FANSHAWE
WELLAND, ON: In their quest to repeat as provincial champions, the no.2 Humber Hawks (18-0, 1st West) have a difficult opponent standing in their way. On tap for the Hawks in the OCAA semi-finals will be the no.10 Fanshawe Falcons (14-4, 3rd West).
On their way to the West Division title, the Hawks rolled the competition and finished the season by winning every game by an incredible 32.1 points-per-game. Despite extending their win streak to 35 games yesterday afternoon, Humber had difficulty with Fanshawe when these two teams played in January, narrowly escaping with a three-point victory. Jillian Semple, the fourth-year centre from Etobicoke, finished with a career-high 20 points in the win.
Over their last eight match-ups, Humber is 6-2 including winners of six straight.
The Falcons advanced to the semi-finals after a dominate 64-49 victory over the St. Lawrence(K) Vikings. Lara Vere, an OCAA second-team all-star led the Falcons in rebounds, assists, and steals while adding 10 points.
