HAWKS AT HOME FOR FIRST OF THREE TO END FIRST HALF

ETOBICOKE, ON: In what is the first of three consecutive home games to end first-semester action, the Humber Hawks women's volleyball team will host the Niagara Knights on Wednesday night at the Humber Athletic Centre.

LAST TIME OUT

The Hawks played on Saturday afternoon at Sheridan, and scored a 3-0 straight set victory (25-16, 27-25, 25-18) over the host Bruins. Although the match was won in three, it took a come-from-behind second set win to ensure the match would not be extended. Veteran Devan O'Connor led the Hawks on the day with 17 offensive points, based on 10 kills, 4 service aces and 3 blocks. Breanna Golding and Nicole Collard also scored in double digits, with 14 and 10 points, respectively.

SCOUTING NIAGARA

  • The two teams have met 23 times in OCAA regular season play, with the Hawks sweeping the all-time match-up
  • Niagara's only loss is sandwiched between 4 wins, was a 3-0 sweep at the hands of Mohawk at home
  • Rachel rivers (4.3 pps) and Jordan Koslowski (3.6 pps) continue to be the go-to players for the Knights
  • Setter Melissa McFadden ranks in the top ten in assists (123) and assist per set average (7.69)

HAWK NOTES

  • Humber returns home after a three-game road trip, which saw the Hawks win all three matches by a combined 9-2 set wins
  • They rank high in a number of key categories, including hitting percentage (.323, 1st), block total (53, 2nd), blocks per set (2.65, 2nd) and assists (206, 4th)
  • Three Hawks check in with point per set averages above 3, with Breanna Golding leading the way at 4.2 pps

  • The Hawks are currently on a run of 136 OCAA league and playoff wins, the longest record of its kind in history
  • Head Coach Chris Wilkins continues to build on his all-time wins mark for a Humber coach, as it now sits at 323. He has only lost 41 of the 364 games played – an astonishing winning average of .887
  • Libero Kyla Wilkins is flirting with some all-time numbers in digs. She is on a pace to have her best year as a Hawk and could move up into the top three – possibly first, overall in career digs
