ETOBICOKE, ON: The Humber Hawks women's volleyball team, who just moved up to number three nationally, will head north to Sudbury this weekend for a pair of games. The Boreal Vipers will be the host on Saturday evening, followed by the Cambrian Golden Shield on Sunday afternoon.
LAST TIME OUT
Humber faced an upstart Sheridan Bruins team on home court and came out with a tough fought 3-0 (25-16, 25-18, 25-23 victory. Playing without two starters, the Hawks had a number of players step up and fill the roles seamlessly. When called upon, Middle Alex Krstonosic and libero Kerissa Wooley had outstanding games. Nicole Collard led Humber with 11 points (7K, 2A,2B).

LAST TIME OUT VS BOREAL
Humber had little trouble in dispatching the last place and winless Vipers in three straight (25-11,25-11,25-17). All 13 Hawk players dressed played in the contest. Julia Watson led the way, with 16 points (9K, 4A, 3B). Danielle Miles hit for double digits, with 10 points (6K, 4A).
SCOUTING BOREAL
- The Vipers have never beaten the Hawks, with Humber holding a 17-0 mark in regular season play. In all these matches, Boreal has only snared a single set, and that was in the first meeting back in 1997
- As their record indicates, they have struggled on the stat sheet as well, ranking at the bottom of almost every category
- Maurissa Ducharme is the Vipers leading scorer, checking in with an average of 1.6 points per set. Emile Goulet follows closely behind, at 1.5 pps.
- Zoe Gagne is the setter of choice, and leads the team with 165 assists on the season

LAST TIME OUT VS CAMBRIAN
Humber hosted the Golden Shield in December on the front end of a swing for Cambrian. The Hawks won in three straight competitive sets (25-20, 25-17, 25-19). Jasmine Lougheed of Humber led both teams on the day, scoring 14 points (10K, 2A, 2B). No Golden Shield player was able to score above six points, or amass five kills in the match.
SCOUTING CAMBRIAN
- Cambrian is one of the teams that has traditionally given the Hawks problems. They have won eight of the 23 regular season meetings. Based on the teams playing in different divisions for many years, the two teams have not met up often until the recent divisional changes were made
- They have a very strong coaching staff, led by legendary head man Dale Beausoleil. He has been at the helm of the Golden Shield for 28 years
- As with their record, the Cambrian squad is a middle of the pack team, based on team statistics. Their top stat is an eighth place spot in assists
- No player tops out above 3.0 pps, but Jillian Vallier is close at 2.9.
- The setting has been shared by Kendra Muffo and Isabelle Rivet, but it is Munro who boasts the impressive stat of 7.3 assists per set
HAWK NOTES
- With a win in either game, Humber will clinch its seventh straight West Division crown
- Humber is still on a roll, now with an OCAA league and playoff win streak stretching to 145 straight wins. Combine the Hawks basketball winning streak of 74 straight games, the Humber women have won 219 consecutive matches.
- Humber still ranks at or near the top of all statistical categories, topping out number one in kill percentage and aces per set
- Breanna Golding, at 4.4 points per set, continues to lead the team in scoring. Devan O'Connor and Jasmine Lougheed check in with identical marks of 3.1 pps
- Although they have shared the setting duties this year, Celine Blanchette holds a thin lead in assist per set average over teammate Alex Bartman, 7.36 to 6.04
HISTORY WATCH
- Chris Wilkins continues to build on his all-time coaching wins numbers at Humber, which now sits at 332 victories. The more impressive stat is that the team has only lost 41 of the 373 matches played
