TOP LOCAL RECRUIT COMMITS TO WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL

ETOBICOKE, Ont -- The ten-time defending OCAA champion women's volleyball program has signed middle blocker Alexandra Krstonosic for the upcoming 2017-18 volleyball season, announced head coach Chris Wilkins.

"Alex is an athlete who I believe has only scratched the surface on her ability," said Coach Wilkins, the 2009 CCAA Coach of the Year.  "We are looking forward to seeing her grow into a dominant middle in the league.  She is eager to learn and has a team first attitude; combined with a strong work ethic, Alex will be someone to look out for in years to come."

Graduating from Martingrove Collegiate Institute, Krstonosic brings a decade's worth of volleyball experience to the Humber Hawks.  Standing five-foot-eleven, she was a three-time MVP for Martingrove volleyball.

"I chose the University of Guelph-Humber because it is more of a hands on type of school," Krstonosic said.  "Along with its smaller class sizes, UGH matches with my learning style very well.  The amazing programs and courses available made my decision to attend Guelph-Humber a lot easier."

At the University of Guelph-Humber, the Etobicoke native will be working towards a bachelor of applied science in family and community social services and a social service worker diploma.

"I chose this program because it outlines exactly what I would like to do in my future. My goal is to become a mental health therapist, and this program is an incredible step in the right direction."

Krstonosic, along with incoming recruits Nicole Collard and Alex Bartmann will join the rest of the Humber Hawks volleyball team on the first day of tryouts on September 5 at the North Campus Gym.
