LAST TIME OUT

The Hawks, playing the back end of a northern swing on Sunday in Sudbury against Cambrian, did not have their "A" game in place. The host Golden Shield took the first set, and built an incredible comeback in the second, before faltering 25-23. Humber was able to close out the match in four sets, but will take a lesson or two from the match as the playoffs loom.

LAST TIME OUT VS. FANSHAWE

Humber travelled to London in the first semester to finish a road trip that started in Windsor the day before. The Hawks came out on fire and dominated the first set 25-8. The second and third sets were closer (25-21, 21-17), but it was Humber that controlled the game from the outset. Breanna Golding and Jasmine Lougheed led Humber with ten points. Meghan Morelli of the Falcons led both teams, with 14.

SCOUTING FANSHAWE

  • In all-time regular season play between the two teams, the Falcons have captured only a single match in the 28 meetings, and that was way back in 1989
  • As a team, they rank incredibly high in many categories, topping out at number one in kills and assists per set. If there is an Achilles Heel in their game, it is their blocking game. They rank among the lowest teams in the league in all these categories
  • The Morelli sisters, Shannon and Meghan, have been outstanding and they check in with point per set marks of 4.1 and 4.0, respectively
  • Darian Gropp has also shone this year. As the main setter for the squad, she has delivered an amazing 460 assists

HAWK NOTES

  • Humber is just a single win away from another undefeated regular season, which would be their seventh straight. They are currently on a run of 147 consecutive OCAA league and playoff win streak
  • The team ranks near the top in every team statistical category, and checks in at number one in hitting percentage and aces per set
  • Breanna Golding continues to lead the team offensively, at 4.4 points per set, and she is supported by Jasmine Lougheed (3.1) and Devan O'Connor (3.0)
  • Celine Blanchette (288 assists) and Alex Bartman (164 assists) have shared the setting duties lately. Blanchette holds an edge in assists per set between the two table setters

HISTORY WATCH

  • With every win, Chris Wilkins pads his all-time Humber Hawk coaching wins record
  • Devan O'Connor and Kyla Wilkins are on the cusp of entering the all-time top five lists in a couple of categories
