LAST TIME OUT

Humber travelled to Ancaster to play the Redeemer Royals on Friday night. Results and statistics were not available at press time.

LAST TIME OUT VS SHERIDAN

The Hawks struggled in the middle stanza (27-25) of the straight three-set victory, but showed dominance in the other two (25-16, 25-18). Devan O'Connor and Breanna Golding scored in double- digits in both kills and points. O'Connor led the way on the night in scoring, with 17 points (10K, 4A, 3B). Golding also hit for 10 kills, and finished with 14 points. No Bruin scored 10 or more pints, but Taylor Lay and Katelyn Long each had nine.

SCOUTING SHERIDAN

  • The Bruins are 1-40 all-time in regular season play against the Hawks. Their only win was a five-setter at home in 1991
  • With the new expanded playoff system in place, Sheridan has already secured their spot, but are in the middle of a fight with a number of teams to host a crossover playoff game. Should they finish fifth or worse, it would mean a road playoff game is in their future
  • As a team, their strength lies in their ability to block and play defence. They are second best in the league in blocks and blocks per set, and fourth in digs. The offence falls off a bit, and fails to break into the top ten of most categories
  • Taylor Ley is the hitting star for the Bruins, and she checks in with a mark of 3.5 points per set, good enough for ninth best in the entire league. Four other Bruins report in with solid averages above 2.0 pps
  • Joelle Parnham has been the setter of choice the entire season, and has 335 assists to her credit, putting her in the top ten of OCAA setters

HAWK NOTES

  • With the win over Mohawk at home on Friday night, the Hawks victory roll in OCAA league and playoff games has now reached 143 games
  • Humber is closing in on another West Division crown, but still has work to do. The one sure thing is that they will host a crossover playoff game on Saturday, February 17/18, at 12:00 noon
  • Only twice in the 13 games played has Humber dropped a set in league play this yearAmong the leaders in all team categories, Humber tops out in kills percentage (.292) and aces per set (3.31)
  • Three Hawks check in with marks above 3.1 pps, led by Breanna Golding's average of 4.3. Veteran Brynne Spence-Coleman is knocking on the door, with an ever increasing mark of 2.8 pps
  • Celine Blanchette has upped her assist total with a 29-assist performance on Friday, and she now sits at 259. Alex Bartman is prepared to return from injury, and checks inn 123 in just 21 sets played

HISTORY WATCH

  • Chris Wilkins all-time coaching wins mark continues to rise with every win, and it now sits at 331
  • Kyla Wilkins has moved up to number three on the Hawks all-time digs list, and looks like she may be able to move up to first or second with a solid performance in the remaining games
