ETOBICOKE, ON: The Humber Hawks women's volleyball team are just a single game from completing the longest stretch of consecutive road games this Friday night as they travel to Hamilton to play the Mohawk Mountaineers.

LAST TIME OUT VS MOHAWK
Humber completed a perfect 18-0 regular season on February 15th with a 3-0 (25-17, 25-23, 25-11) road win over the Mountaineers. Humber's Devan O'Connor was the top scorer among both teams on the night with 14 offensive points, by way of her 8 kills, 4 service aces and 1 block. No other Hawk was able to hit double digits, but Mohawk had two players reach that mark. Yvonne Mann and Amanda Kuiper struck for 10 points each. Humber went on to win OCAA gold, while the 9-9 Mountaineers were ousted in the play-off crossover round by Loyalist.
SCOUTING MOHAWK
- Perhaps the biggest move of all was seeing the men's coach Matthew Schnarr move from the head spot with the men to the lead role of the women's team. Schnarr's Mohawk men's team won OCAA gold last year
- Mohawk is carrying one of the largest rosters in the league, with 17 players consisting of 6 freshman and 11 veterans
- Gone is 2016/17 leading scorer Kirsten Bialachowski (3.3 pps), but they return three players who averaged over 2.0 pps
- One of the biggest acquisitions has come from the coach's seat on the bench, as the former assistant coach and Humber Hawk star Kelsey Kovar returns to the floor as a player. She has already made a difference, as she checks in with a mark of 3.2 points per set
- Lindsay Vanderweide leads all Mounatineers with a scoring average of 3.3 pps. All in all, Mohawk has three players averaging above 3.0 pps
- They lead the league in blocks per set, at 3.15
HAWK NOTES
- Humber has started the season with three wins, and have not dropped a set thus far. They are the only team in the league with an unblemished record.
- This past weekend they knocked off two previously unbeaten team on their home court, in St. Clair and Fanshawe
- Humber leads the league in team hitting percentage, at .341
- Second Year standout Breanna Golding has flexed her muscles early and checks in with a mark of 3.8 points per set. She leads the team in kills, service aces and is second in blocks
- Three other Hawks are scoring at a high rate, with all three scoring above 3.0 pps
- Celine Blanchette and Alex Bartman have shared the setting duties and the two have been instrumental in the Hawks league-high hitting percentage
CHASING HISTORY
- This section really could be called "re-writing history", as this past weekend head coach Chris Wilkins became Humber's all-time leader in wins as a head coach with number 319 and 320. He slipped past the legendary men's basketball coach , Mike Katz
- The Hawk's continue to make history. With the two victories this past weekend, they have now run their consecutive OCAA league and play-off consecutive win streak to 133 games. Their last loss was to Nipissing (now a CIS team), during the 2010-11 season
