HAWKS ADVANCE TO CCAA SEMI FINAL AFTER 6-0 WIN OVER CHAMPLAIN

MONTREAL, QC: The Humber Hawks returned to the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association Men's Soccer National Championship after a year's absence on Wednesday afternoon. In the Quarter Final match up, the Hawks drew the host and number eight seed Champlain – St. Lambert Cavaliers. Humber planned to stay with the game plan they have used all year, and that is score early and tack on as the game progresses. The Hawks did just that, as the scored twice early and cruised to a 6-0 win.

Both teams came into the game looking to book entrance into the National Semi-Final on Thursday afternoon. Algonquin, also an OCAA team, advanced earlier by way of their 3-1 win over the RSEQ champs from Ahuntsic.

OCAA Gold Medal Game Player of the Game Joshua Paredes-Proctor opened the scoring at the twelve minute mark on a beautiful strike. Paredes-Proctor was at it again, scoring on a penalty kick at the twenty five minute mark.

From that point on, the game got chippy, with both teams being presented with multiple yellow cards. The first three went to Hawk players Patrick Majcher, Gerardo Magno and Paredes-Proctor. Champlain joined in on the rough play and were carded a number of times.

At half, the score stood at 2-0 for Humber.

The Hawks took over in the second half, scoring four times from the sixty-two minute mark to the eighty-one minute spot. Jessie Assing scored at the sixty-two minute mark, followed by Patrick Majcher just five minutes later. After Majcher scored, he was hit by a Cavaliers player which resulted in the first red card of the day.

With the host being down a man, Humber went on to score twice in a minute and a half span on goals by Sonan Askndar and Luca Baldfassare.

The Humber Player of the Game was presented to Hawk Midfielder Gerardo Magno.

Humber will now play Algonquin on Thursday afternoon at 3:00 pm, for the right to advance to the CCAA National Championship game on Saturday.
