HAWKS STAY PERFECT WITH 3-1 WIN OVER UTM

MISSISSAUGA, Ontario: After beginning the season 3-0-0, the Humber Hawks Men's soccer team looked to keep the winning streak alive against the University of Toronto Mississauga Eagles.

UTM is a new team in the CCAA this season and it was the first of two match-ups between these two teams this year.

Kick-off was at 3:15 P.M. and was game two of the double header, which featured the two women's teams facing off in the earlier match.

The Hawks right from the opening whistle came out flying and ready to play. They took control of the flow of the game barely allowing UTM to get out of their own half.

Following a few early chances, it was Hawks midfielder Gerardo Magno who opened the scoring with a beautiful strike from 30 yards out. It was Magno's second game in a row with a goal.

The Hawks attack wasn't done there as it was midfielder Daniele Clemente who then added one with a clinical finish into the bottom corner to make it 2-0.

The score would remain the same for the rest of the half with both teams going back and forth with nothing to show for it.

The beginning of the second half featured both teams continuing to go back and forth in what started to become a rough game with both teams going hard into tackles.

The Hawks extended their lead midway through the half when rookie midfielder Camilo Duenas headed one home off a corner kick to make it 3-0.

Following the goal, a frustrated UTM side began to take some liberties at the Hawks, but the Hawks were very disciplined and kept calm.

UTM would later add a goal but that would be as close as they would get, as the final in this one would be 3-1.

Alex Pothement was in goal for the Hawks and got the win in his season debut.

With the win the Hawks extend their lead in the central division and remain undefeated on the season with a 4-0-0 record.

Their next game is on Tuesday when they host the Niagara College Knights at Centennial Park Stadium. The two teams met in the season opener with Humber taking that one by a score of 2-0.

Kick off is at 4:30 P.M. and is the opener of a double header as the girl's game kicks off following the men's.
