ETOBICOKE, ON:  The first game of the 2015 OCAA championship semi-finals included two powerhouse programs, the Fanshawe Falcons and Humber Hawks.  With favourable weather conditions compared to their quarter-final matches, both teams put their undefeated records on the line striving to become provincial champions.

With the new division alignment this season in the OCAA, these two teams have not played each other this season but they do have a long, storied history against one another.

In the opening minutes of the match, both teams shared possession, grasping a feel for game pace and looking for a weakness in their opponents defence.  In the 13th minute, CCAA All-Canadian Jaineil Hoilett opened the scoring for Humber, cutting through the defence of Fanshawe and sneaking the ball passed goalkeeper Luke Siroen.  The Falcons defenders thought Hoilett was offside, giving up on the play and allowing Hoilett to walk in and score.

Not content with a one goal lead, Humber continued to pressure the Falcons defence.  Patrick Majcher put his speed on display for the home crowd to witness, as he flew passed Fanshawe's defence on his way to the goal.  Andrew Gravett of Fanshawe, pulled Majcher down to the ground, giving Humber a penalty kick.  For his effort, Humber coach Michael Aquino permitted Majcher to take the penalty kick and he did not disappoint.  Siroen guessed right but Majcher shot left, giving Humber a 2-0 lead.

Both teams played the first half with high intensity and aggression, as the referees tendered four yellow cards in the first 45 minutes.

The second half began with Humber trying to extend their lead over the high-scoring Falcons.  Luke Siroen bobbled a save, giving Hawks forward Kasra Dehdezi a chance to score.  Dehdezi's shot trickled passed Siroen but OCAA player of the year Brandon Mendes was there to clear the ball away.

As the Falcons pressed to get on the board late in the match, David Harriman-Duke received his second caution and was ejected from the game.  A Falcons coach was also ejected, making the last ten minutes an uphill battle for Fanshawe as they attempted to get back in the game.

In total, the Falcons received 10 yellow cards, three red cards, and saw five players ejected from the match.

The Hawks will now play the winner of Cambrian/Algonquin tomorrow in the OCAA championship finals.  The Falcons will play the loser of that game for OCAA bronze.

Jaineil Hoilett (Humber) and Cedric N'Guessen (Fanshawe) were each named players of the game.
