HAWKS FINISH SEASON WITH UNDEFEATED RECORD

HAWKS FINISH SEASON WITH UNDEFEATED RECORD

By: Eugenio Garro

ETOBICOKE, ON: It was a day of last chances for some members of the Humber Hawks Men's soccer team.

With first place already clinched in the central division, the Hawks used Tuesday's match against the George Brown Huskies as a last chance to see some players before they finalize their roster for the OCAA Provincial Championships.
Both teams drew to a nil-nil tie in the first meeting just a few weeks ago and with George Brown still in the mix for a playoff spot, a good match was expected at Centennial Park Stadium Tuesday afternoon.

The game got off to a quick start when Humber striker Patrick Majcher opened the scoring early on, setting the tone for the Hawks. It wasn't long after that when he potted another for his second of the game giving the Hawks a 2-0 lead.

Regardless of the score, the game was back and forth and George Brown was able to slide one by Humber's goalkeeper, but it was cleared off the line by defender Kingsley Boasiako

The score at halftime would be 2-0 in favour of the Hawks.

The second half featured a handful of substitutions for the Hawks and they did not let up with the goal scoring.

Luca Baldassarre, the weekends hero against Sheridan and this weeks OCAA player of the Week, came into the match and recorded a hat-trick, extending his goal tally to seven goals in four games.

The final in this match would be 5-0 for the Hawks as they finish the season on a positive note.

Alexander Pothement earned the shutout for the Humber Hawks.

The Hawks now close out the regular season undefeated with a 9-0-1 record heading into next weeks provincial championships being hosted by none other than Humber at Centennial Park Stadium.
