BLANCHETTE SCORES WEST FIRST TEAM ALL-STAR SELECTION

HAMILTON, ON: Heading into the 2017 OCAA Men's Volleyball Championship Awards Banquet, Clayton Blanchette already knew he would take to the podium to receive his league leading scorer award, but he returned to the front of the room to moments later to accept his West Division First Team All-Star award.

It was a magical season for the second year Hawk's superstar. He not only won the scoring title, he made a huge dent on the Humber men's volleyball regular season statistic chart. He moved up to number two in kills and points, usurping a couple of the marks set by the legendary Terrel Bramwell. He is a lock to make a serious run at the all-time leaders at Humber over the next year.

Although not counted in his point total, Blanchette's impact shone bright in the crossover playoff win over La Cite. He tallied 20 kills on 39 swings with just two errors to hit .462.  The St. Catharines, Ont., native also tallied two service aces and two stuff blocks, for a total of 24 points in just three sets. That is an amazing mark of eight points per set average.

He will lead the Hawks into battle in the first round of the OCAA quarter finals on Thursday evening, as the Hawks play the undefeated and East Division champion, Georgian Grizzlies.
